Candidates for Office Statements

President Candidate

Peggy Hotaling

I have been a member of OSC for over 10 years and have been involved in many areas of the club since then.  I like to tell people that I joined to go on a ski trip and never looked back – enjoying many since then as a participant and trip leader.  In addition, I’ve been publisher of the Schussboomer, a member of several committees - Trip, Web-site/Technology, Long Term Planning, Marketing and other ad hoc committees. I also assisted with the implementation of different surveys we have done with our members.   Before becoming President, I was on the Board as Director for two years and after that, Second Vice President for 4 years.

I have enjoyed being involved with the club. The things I’ve been a part of have allowed me to meet and work with many people as well as learn about club operations.  I feel that the club has moved forward - implementing new processes while striving to make things easier for our volunteers. We also have a great group of people to draw from with new ideas and skills that help all of us. I would like to see the club continue to grow and thrive and will follow the path created by our current and past leadership.

Thank you for your support these past two years and ask for your vote in April.

Thank You, Peggy Hotaling

Margaret Timofy -

Hello, my name is Margaret Timofy. I always go by the nickname Maggie. Margaret is a common name in my family.

I was approached by Linda Perry Hitchings who suggested that I should run for a position on the board. I can no longer say that I’m too new in the club. This is my third year as an OSC member, and I am very happy to be a part of this club. I like being able to help and contribute to things I feel passionate about. I have been skiing for 50 years, so I guess you could say I have enough experience on the slopes that I might be helpful in some way to a ski club. Last year I had the great pleasure of traveling to Zermatt Switzerland as a club member. I can truly say it was the trip of a lifetime, something that I’ve wanted to do since I was a teenager. Getting to be in the Swiss Alps was the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen in my life.

The last time I was in any kind of a club was back in high school. I was president of the Key Club. This club is the high school version of the Kiwanis club and as such I went to their monthly meetings as a representative of the Key Club. One of the classes I enjoyed while still in high school was an oral communications class and because of that I was chosen to take the Dale Carnegie class for free. I absolutely loved it and I can say I learned a great deal of useful tools because of it. If I’ve ever had an opportunity to have a conversation with you personally you would know that I’m definitely a people person and very social. I actually enjoy speaking to large groups of people. I like working with others to accomplish goals and enjoy participating in group activities. One of the other things you might want to know about me is that I have been self-employed since 1988. One of the things I love about being self-employed is being able to make myself available for activities that I enjoy and creating my own schedule. I also get to meet lots of new people all of the time. I enjoy the opportunity to help them find healthy solutions to their challenges. Hopefully these previous activities and traits will help me to be a productive board member.

Thank you, Maggie Timofy

Jane Trezise -

My name is Jane Trezise and I have been a member for about 3 years. My interests are crosscountry skiing, hiking, show-shoeing and kayaking. I am about to go on my first club trip to Ellicottville. I have joined some club members for kayaking and hiking on a couple of occasions and am looking forward to doing more since I am retiring this summer. I have also worked our booth at the Ski Show for the last 3 years. I also enjoy going to the Happy Hours, and I think this is a great way to get to know more members. Being a newer member, I hope to bring a different perspective to the board.

Thank you, Jane Trezise
