Enjoy an easy autumn hike at the 3,800-acre Heiberg Memorial Forest, located about 30 minutes south of Syracuse. This property serves as an outdoor classroom and laboratory for the students and staff of SUNY ESF. They have 18 miles of roads and trails open to the public for hiking, biking, xc skiing, snowshoeing, etc. On this hike we will explore the Nature and Skyline trails and Pond #1.
Please bring water, snack and PPE. Check the Hiking Forum for guidelines & any updates to the hike. The number of registrations is limited and a wait list will be started when that number is reached.
For those who may be looking for dining opportunities after the hike, ONCO one of our Club Advertisers is located right in Tully. They offer food and music on Saturday afternoon and evenings. http://www.oncoferment.com/
Directions: From the village of Tully - Head east on NY 80, past the main village traffic light (US 11 Jct), take your next right on Railroad St. From there take your next left and a quick right turn over the railroad tracks. Stay on this road around the sharp bend and up the hill, about 1.8 miles. You will see a sign on the left for Heiberg Forest and turn right on Maple Ridge Rd. We will meet at the first parking lot to your right.
