Book Discussion Group
Twice a year (spring and fall) the Onondaga Ski Club book discussion group meets at a member's home to discuss a selected book and then enjoy a group pot-luck dinner together. Generally 25 or more members attend these discussions.
Currently, Dianne Emmick is the group leader. She selects a book, provides information about securing copies of the book, and then establishes the meeting location. Members read the book and come to the meeting prepared to discuss topics designed to stimulate dialogue and interest.
Also, if you want to provide Dianne with book selections and/or dialogue with other members about the present book, go to the Book Group Forum.
CURRENT SELECTION -- Spring 2018
The OSC spring book discussion group will read The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. The novel is this year's CNY book and deals with a crusty bookstore owner whose life changes after a thief, a child, and, of course, a woman enter his book-filled world. It's a heartwarming read, a break from controversy, and both touching and humorous.
We will tentatively meet on Thursday, April 26, our host for the evening is Linda Kelly, 3447 Syratisco Lane, Marietta, NY 13110. RSVP is helpful for host to know how many to plan on. Contact Linda at email@example.com or Register at the Calendar entry.
Place a hold at your local library, but availability is good and you should be able to get the book quickly. Also Dianne will have a few copies to lend at the April meeting or contact her sooner.Call or email Dianne Emmick at firstname.lastname@example.org or 315-468-2975 if you have trouble getting the book.
We are always looking for people willing to host a discussion and dish-to-pass. If you are interested in hosting a future event, please contact Carol at email@example.com.
Following is a list of books discussed since the beginning of the book discussion group in 2005.
