Onondaga Ski Club

A Club For All Seasons

Twice a year (spring and fall) the Onondaga Ski Club book discussion group   meets at a member's home to discuss a selected book and then enjoy a group pot-luck dinner together.  Generally 25 or more members attend these discussions.

Currently, Dianne Emmick is the group leader. She selects a book, provides information about securing copies of the book, and then establishes the meeting location.  Members read the book and come to the meeting prepared to discuss topics designed to stimulate dialogue and interest.

Also, if you want to provide Dianne with book selections and/or dialogue with other members about the present book, go to the Book Group Forum.

CURRENT SELECTION -- Fall 2018

The discussion book will be Little Fires Everywhere  by Celeste Ng (pronounced Ing.)

The novel is set in Shaker Heights, Ohio.  It deals with the lifestyles of both the long established affluent residents of this structured community, and the struggling first-generation immigrant population. Many other issues such as abortion, adoption, parenting, secrets, art, and more are woven into this complex story.

Our host for this discussion is Elizabeth Chapman

Address: 250 Oarlock Circle, Erie Village
East Syracuse, NY  13057
chapmane7@gmail.com  (315) 256-6523

Please bring a dish to pass.  Hosts will provide beverages and serving items.  You may bring a special beverage if you wish.  Social gathering at 5:30 pm with the discussion to begin at 6:45 pm.

You can let us know that you are attending by going to the  OSC calendar entry on Nov. 8 and click the Register button.

Although there are over 100 copies in our library system.  There are several holds on the book, so you need to get your name on the library hold list as soon as possible. For those of you who like to read online, there are ebooks of the title at EBay for very reasonable prices, sometimes as low as $1.50.. I have used these vendors and have successfully downloaded books to my computer, tablet, or Kindle. Here is the link. Check it out:

We are always looking for people willing to host a discussion and dish-to-pass.  If you are interested in hosting a future event, please contact Carol at cah3826@yahoo.com.
