Green Lakes State Park can be reached off of Rt 290. As it is a weekday, entry fees are waved for seniors.
We will meet at 12:45pm by the Education Center near the beach.
We will be hiking sections of the Green Lake Trail, Round Lake Trail, Brookside Trail, Powerline Indian Oven Trail and The Old Growth Trail.
This will be a moderate hike of a bit more than 5 miles and should take between two and two and a half hours. The area around the lakes is easy and flat, but then becomes a little more challenging, veering uphill to the Indian Ovens. Our return loop will take us back down and around the other side of Round and Green lakes.
The majority of the trails are level and well maintained. However, sections of the trail to Indian Ovens have exposed roots and rocks.
Hopefully wee will see beautiful colors and migration birds.
Please remember to bring water and trekking poles are recommended for extra support.
