Paddle Horseshoe Island

Event: Paddle Horseshoe Island

Date/Location: August 18th 6:00 pm / 

Meet at the Bonstead Rd Public Boat Launch under the 481 Bridge.

Paddle up the Oneida River through the cut that made Horseshoe Island.

When you see an old beached river barge and Pirates Cove Marine head north onto the side channel. This takes us on the east side of Horseshoe Island. See "Paddle Map" in the related Forum

Directions: 

• Head north on RT-481 from Syracuse
  
• Take Exit 12 for NY-31 exit right toward Cicero. (7.2 Mi)
  
• Turn left onto Morgan Road (0.2 Mi)
  
• Turn Left onto Maider Road (1.3 Mi)
  
• Continue onto Bonstead Road (2.7 Mi)
  

FYI: Following the paddle we will share a meal at Pirates Cove

Weather conditions: We will cancel if there is a threat of thunder during the paddle. Be aware of boat traffic. Do not cross a boaters path.

FYI: Carry a whistle, white light (for signaling) and a life vest. These are New York State boating requirements.
