Yesterday the 20th of May I put my Hornbeck onto the water in the Old Erie Canal State Park and paddled from Cedar Bay in DeWitt to the canal museum in Chittenango. Almost ten miles in length, I paddled with the current around trees and brush that are in the canal along with going over a beaver dam at the bridge over the canal in Kirkville. This has been an issue for the park service staff for a number of years...they pull it apart/out, but Mr. Beaver gets back to finding the stuff needed to build it again.
I paddled this because next month there's another Boat Float happening, and I wanted to assist them in making sure it's doable. While the water was 'dirty' and some plant growth is starting to show up, it's a quiet paddle on the first 'super-highway' this country had. Bathrooms at Cedar Bay and Pools Brook Park plus the museum if it's open.
